Ten of Hands – Objectivity
(Cards of Purpose)

Even though they are tied to our own personal and private conditions, thinking and knowing do not belong to the individual but are collective. And so, the purpose of cognition lies in the formulation of objective knowledge, that is, in turning knowledge into an object, something that can be shared and expressed.

Objectivity opens a space that allows our private and personal perspectives to meet, exist and act together, in concert. A space that allows us to give up, sacrifice, do our part, imagine, and hope. To share a common fate, while helping one another.

The space of objectivity allows us to see the products of cognition as “objects of thought” – things in the world. Objects that carry purpose and mission. Connecting human beings and the world beyond any sense and meaning, beyond definitions and classifications. From a sense of belonging and solidarity. Cohesion that produces firmness, rigidness, and strength. And yet, an open circle, one that is in constant movement under the aspiration to become a symbol: Unity of form and content. A form with style. A shape that belongs to the nature of things themselves. This is not objectivity that wishes to cancel or overcome subjectivity, but rather one that wishes to host it in its full potential as part of a common system. To find a place and a role for everyone. A way of knowing in which the parts remain larger than the whole.

The hands that hold one another reproduce time and again a work space for thought to organize and produce meaning and sense, in an open and absolute way. Uniting to grip a hammer – a work tool – that holds the two ends of the action: destruction and construction.

One for all and all for one.
