Two of Eyes – Dilemma
(The “I”/Ego cards)

There is an outside and an inside, there is a demand to act and a need to decide how to act. How does one assimilate an Idea? How does one reconcile the external with the internal, the indifference and the emotional turmoil with the demand of the moment? What is important? What should be ignored? Should you put on a mask or take it off? What to trust, reason or emotion? How to choose? How to decide?

The choosing-acting-value forging self emerges. It faces the freedom and necessity of the action. Like two internal voices. The ideal set of hierarchies is put to the test of reality. One has to live, and in order to live one has to act. Dilemma evokes a sense of power, control, and confidence just as it triggers tension and angst. We are standing with all of our power to decide in the face of the partiality of knowing, the partiality of our control over things. We stand against the possibility of imagining a better future. Doubt and hesitation loom over the self who is free to choose. Threatening to pull him into a loop of self-indulgent torment.

Indecision is a form of choosing. One cannot escape making a choice, and with every choice we articulate who we are. Stop for one moment, stop yourself, your stream of thought, the possibilities and imagined worlds you entertain. Allow yourself to ask: Who am I? And stand behind your mistakes.

It’s up to you.
