Seven of Consciousness – Sublime
(Cards of Belonging)
The experience of the sublime originates in the encounter with a force too great to contain: The force of existence’s presence. The feeling of consuming and unsettling power experienced simultaneously as a moment of clarity and simplicity.
A moment of tempestuous calm.
The sublime is an experience of transcendence that originates in fear and horror. An experience where one faces what he cannot perceive as “himself” (“the return of the repressed”). An encounter with an insight that is an emotion, which permeates and invigorates every atom in the body. An emotion that is an insight that destabilizes all systems.
The sublime is the moment in which we encounter a force of equal and corresponding strength to the formidable forces of creation that exist within us. A moment of disillusionment and reclaiming what is already ours: Our humanity. An opportunity to break away from who you are to become who you are.
“The sublime is what even to be able to think proves that the mind has a power surpassing any standard of sense.” (Kant)
