Seven of Eyes – Intimacy
(Cards of Belonging)
Intimacy concerns the possibility of sharing one’s self. The possibility to stand bare, with all my flaws, afflictions, desires, and stories. The ability to embrace these in the other. A place to ask questions about our secrets. Intimacy opens a space where one can work, get to know, and turn the secret into a fact. So that we can tell a real story, establish a foundation of honesty for everyday life. In a reality where body and sexuality have become commodities and exposure has been reduced to acts of stripping and promiscuity – intimacy has become pornographic.
When things are nothing but systems of seduction and arousal – objects of desire – when alienation has become a way of life, intimacy becomes a question and a challenge. The desire for closeness deepens, the need to feel and connect for the sake of creating the next generation and securing the future demands to be answered.
Intimacy takes us back to the Garden of Eden – standing before one another naked – after the expulsion, challenging the relationship between nature and reason that originates in separation, shame, and anxiety.
It leads us in the trail of curiosity, beyond judgment and determination. Opens a space where thought, emotion, and body merge.
Intimacy diverts thought and action to a space of sensuality – an erotic space of seduction and arousal that has no motive nor purpose. beyond exploitation and oppression. Beyond profit and towards wellbeing. Intimacy makes us “less-than-one” that is “more than one.”
The degree of safety determines the degree of exposure, and the degree of exposure determines the degree of intimacy.
