Nine of Hands – Crisis of Faith
(Cards of Truth)

Since we cannot know things absolutely and utterly, since every relationship between things is partial and limited, we have no choice but to believe that things will turn out as we think and expect and want them to happen. Yet sometimes the power balance between the action and its outcome is disturbed. Sometimes the neglect and promiscuity come back and take their toll. Curiosity, temptation, stimulation, regret, and pleasure are manifested through shame, secret, sin, and punishment.

Little by little the road changes, becomes foreign. The values that guided us lose potency. Atrophy and corruption take hold, suppressing the decay under an aesthetic guise.

Efficiency becomes greed, cooperation becomes a conflict of interests, the powerful becomes the master. Belief in the right way becomes a mechanism of corruption, and the forces of creation and inclusion become forces of exploitation of oppression. A dream becomes a nightmare.

The crisis of faith brings us face to face with our stories about life, against the external forces and ideologies that shape our reality. This is a time of urgency and determination that confronts us with the need to protect the good and the demand to fight for justice. A moment when thought needs to go beyond language.

To settle into the gap between words and things. Settle into the body and believe in the image. To settle, again and again, within the ever-changing, and pursue it.

See the lie that the truth tries to hide.
