9 Core – Deep Space
Inside us we find a deep space, which only the universe can reflect. We discover the secret of internal size, that fits into bodies smaller than it is (“It’s bigger on the inside”). Discover the potential of the part to be greater than the sum of the parts. To place ourselves in front of eternity and infinity.
Deep space presents an existential challenge: To produce orientation beyond gravity. Position oneself not in front of and in relation to bodies. Not in front of and in relation to boundaries and limitations. Questions of navigation and orientation without a (moral) compass, beyond right and left, up and down, become existential questions. It is a space of presence and dread. A space where nothingness originates gravity. A space that is mostly dark matter and dark energy.
In deep space, objects function as landmarks, markers used to lay out a grid of coordinates so as to move on. To be the vanishing point from which we sail towards other worlds and forms of life. Towards the mystery. It is a space of curiosity and exploration, a space organized around the desire to know. Which requires inventing
and building new (and absurd) navigation and measuring devices. A space where data is critical for survival. A space of science fiction – the “epistemology” of the imagination.
Deep space summons an encounter with the black void, where lights twinkle like flickers of existence.
A sense of floating in an infinite space, the sound of silence that surrounds us, produce a sensual experience without senses. See what is beyond the visible, be in the presence of
mystery, touch the living as an alien. The universe is your home.
Surrender to the gravity of the matter.
